Former Super Eagles Player; Thompson Oliha Dies At 44
The midfielder of Nigeria’s 1994 Africa Cup of Nations-winning squad, 44 years old former Nigeria international midfielder Thompson Oliha has died. The former Nigerian player died in a private hospital in Ilorin on Sunday morning after complaining of malaria.
His playing career was cut short at the age of 27 because of a serious injury. Oliha took up coaching job and his last job as a coach was at the Kwara Football Academy and is reported to have been on the bench of the KFA boys in their match against a Malian team yesterday.
Oliha played local football with Iwuanyanwu Nationale, Bendel Insurance, while outsideNigeria he trade tackled for Africa Sports in Ivory Coast, Ironi Ashdod in Israel and Antalyaspor in Turkey. Along with Rashidi Yekini and Uche Okafor, Oliha is the third member of the victorious team from 1994 to pass on.
