A sports journalist, Nnamdi Obanya on Monday hailed the performance of the Super Eagles over their Malawian counterparts during the weekend that booked Nigeria a step closer to qualifying for the 2014 World Cup to be held in Brazil.
He expressed delight that despite all the bad blood, horse trading and the racism charge leveled against Coach Stephen Keshi by the Malawian Coach, Tom Saintfiet, the team emerged victorious. He wondered why the Belgian called on FIFA to change the venue of the match on insecurity basis claiming that this is a city that hosts the Calabar Carnival and the other tourist attractions. He said the Media Officer of the Super Eagles and the Team’s Psychologist assured him of the preparedness of the team despite all that was happening outside the camp. Goals from Emmanuel Emenike and Victor Moses had ensured Nigeria’s victory over Malawi and a step closer to the World Cup to be hosted by Brazil in 2014.
